Lincoln is the son of Virginia (Coates) and John Chafee (John Lester Hubbard Chafee). Lincoln’s father was Governor of Rhode Island (1963-1969), United States Secretary of the Navy (1969-1972), and a United States Senator from Rhode Island (1976-1999).
