Jackson was born in Germany, where his father, Clyde Jack Browne, an American serviceman, was stationed for job reasons. His mother, Beatrice Amanda (née Dahl), was a Minnesota native. His father was of English, and some German, ancestry. His mother was of Norwegian descent.
Jackson’s paternal grandparents were Clyde N. Browne (the son of Frederick W. Browne and Diantha R. Lewis) and Edeth Grace Wassum (the daughter of John H. Wassum and Jane A). Jackson’s “Wassum” line can be traced back to Leonhart Wassum, who was born, c. 1733, in Bergstrasse, Germany.
Jackson’s maternal grandparents were Jens Dahl and Margaret.
