Roland Orzabal is a British musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is known mainly as a co-founding member of the band Tears for Fears, of which he is the main songwriter and joint vocalist.
Orzabal’s mother is English and his father (George Orzabal de la Quintana) is from Paris, France, but of Spanish-Basque descent. Roland’s grandfather was Arturito Orzabal de la Quintana, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Orzabal was originally named “Raoul” at birth for two weeks, but this was subsequently changed to Roland to Anglicise the name, as the family were living in England.
