David Gilmour is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is known as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd.
He is the son of Sylvia (Wilson) and Douglas Gilmour. The surname “Gilmour” is generally Scottish.
David’s paternal grandparents were Sidney David Gilmour and Anne Margarite Graham (the daughter of Frederick Charles Graham and Alice Stiff). Anne descended from Peter Egbert, who was born, c. 1731, in Staten Island, New York, of Dutch descent.
