Brynjar Leifsson is an Icelandic musician. He is known as the lead guitarist of the Icelandic indie folk band Of Monsters and Men. He is the son of Leifur Gunnar Leifsson and Guðlaug Brynja Hjaltadóttir.
Brynjar’s paternal grandfather was Leifur Sædal Einarsson (the son of Einar Sigurbjörn Guðmundsson and Elísabet Sveinsdóttir). Einar was the son of Guðmundur Kristinn Guðmundsson and Þórunn Einarsdóttir. Elísabet was the daughter of Sveinn Einarsson and Ástríður Gunnarsdóttir.
Brynjar’s paternal grandmother was Guðrún Sumarliðadóttir (the daughter of Sumarliði Eiríksson and Tómasína Oddsdóttir). Sumarliði was the son of Eiríkur Guðlaugsson and Guðrún Bjarnadóttir. Tómasína was the daughter of Oddur Björnsson and Guðbjörg Tómasdóttir.
Brynjar’s maternal grandfather was Hjalti Svanmundur Guðmundsson (the son of Guðmundur Gunnlaugsson and Guðlaug Ólöf Stefánsdóttir). Brynjar’s great-grandfather Guðmundur was the son of Guðmundur Gunnlaugsson and Sigurlaug Jónsdóttir. Guðlaug was the daughter of Stefán Aðalsteinsson and Kristín Jósefsdóttir.
Brynjar’s maternal grandmother was Erla María Andrésdóttir (the daughter of Andreas Christian Sæby Ágústsson and Kristín Vigdís Kristinsdóttir). Andreas was the son of Ágúst Einar Sæby and Steinþóra Barðadóttir. Ágúst was of Danish descent. Kristín was the daughter of Kristinn Þórarinsson and Vigdís Eiríksdóttir.
