John’s maternal grandparents were Frank Michael Aker (the son of Michael Akier and Anna Rzgbzinska) and Jozefa/Josephine Stefaniuk (the daughter of Daniel Stefanik and Sophia Kosakiewicz). Frank and Josefa were both born in Ukraine. Frank may have been a mix of Ukrainian and Polish ancestry. Daniel was Ukrainian. Sophia was the daughter of Pawel Kosakiewicz and Mary Gruszewska, who were both Polish.
