Ron Wyden is an American politician. A Democrat, he has served as a U.S. Senator from Oregon, since February 6, 1996.
Ron is the son of Edith (Rosenow) and Peter H. Wyden (born Peter Weidenreich), a journalist and writer. Peter was born in Berlin, Germany, and came to the U.S. in 1937, because of the Nazi regime. Edith’s family was also from Germany.
Ron’s paternal grandparents were Erich Weidenreich (the son of Karl Weidenreich and Friederike Edesheimer) and Helen Silberstein. Erich was a businessperson. Helen was a concert singer.
Ron’s maternal grandparents were Georg Rosenow (the son of Leopold Rosenow and Auguste Leon) and Else Weile (the daughter of Salomon Samuel Weile and Fanny Machol). Georg and Else were born in Berlin, to families from the Pomerania region (between Germany and Poland).
