Phil Lynott was an Irish singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and poet. He was the lead singer, bass guitarist, and acustic guitarist of the rock band Thin Lizzy. Phil was born in West Bromwich, England, and was raised in Dublin, Ireland, by his grandmother.
Phil was the illegitamate son of Philomena “Phyllis” Lynott, an author and entrepreneur, and Cecil Parris. Phil’s mother was Irish, while his father was Afro-Guyanese, from Georgetown, Guyana.
After Phil’s death, it was widely reported in the media that his father was Brazilian. This is not correct.
Phil’s maternal grandparents were Frank Lynott (the son of Michael Charles Lynott) and Sarah Finn.
