Carlos P. Garcia was a Filipino teacher, poet, orator, lawyer, public official, political economist, organized guerrilla, and Commonwealth military leader, who was the eighth President of the Philippines from March 17, 1957 to December 30, 1961. His father, Policronio García y Babila (or Policronio Babila García in Filipino), served as mayor of Talibo, Bohol for four terms. His mother was named Ambrosia Polestico. He was married to Leonila de la Serna Dimataga.
