Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a Turkish army officer and revolutionary. He was the first President of Turkey, from 29 October, 1923 to 10 November, 1938.
Mustafa Kemal’s father, Ali Rıza Efendi, was a militia officer, title-deed clerk, and lumber trader. He is thought to have been of Albanian origin by some authors. However, it is not clear if this is accurate. His mother, Zübeyde Hanım, was said to be of Yörük ancestry, according to Şevket Süreyya Aydemir. However, it is unclear if this is accurate also.
There are also some suggestions about the possibility of him having had some degree of Slavic origin, based on his light skin complexion, blond hair, and blue eyes. However, it is unclear if Mustafa Kemal’s Slavic ancestry has been documented/verified.
Mustafa Kemal was married to Latife Uşşaki (Latife Uşakizâde).
Mustafa Kemal’s paternal grandfather was Kırmızı Hafız Ahmet Efendi.
Mustafa Kemal’s maternal grandparents were Sofuzade Feyzullah Efendi (the son of İbrahim Ağa) and Güzel Ayşe Hanım. İbrahim was the son of Hacı Abdullah Ağa.
