Paul Scofield was an English actor.
Paul is the son of Mary (Wild) and Edward Harry Scofield. His father was a headmaster of the Hurstpierpoint Church of England School, and his mother was a Roman Catholic. Paul was baptized Catholic. He expressed a “lack of direction in spiritual matters”, and felt divided between his parents’ faiths growing up.
Paul’s maternal grandparents were John Wild (the son of Robert Wild and Mary Ann Tigh) and Elizabeth Mathilde Roberts (the daughter of Alexander Roberts and Elizabeth Yates).
