Carlo Azeglio Ciampi was an Italian politician and banker. He was the 49th Prime Minister of Italy from April 28, 1993 to May 10, 1994 and was the tenth President of Italy from May 18, 1999 to May 15, 2006. He was the son of Pietro Ciampi and Maria Masino, who was born in Pisa. He was married to Franca Pilla.
