Tom Laughlin was an American actor, director, screenwriter, author, educator, and political activist. He is known for starring in the Billy Jack films.
Tom was a candidate for the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 1992 and 2008, and for the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2004.
Tom was the son of Margaret Catherine (Smith) and Thomas McHugh Laughlin.
Tom’s paternal grandparents were Thomas H./A. Laughlin (the son of William Laughlin and Catharine Cusick) and Julia McHugh (the daughter of Patrick McHugh and Mary/Mari Moran).
Tom’s maternal grandparents were Walter F. Smith (the son of Jeremiah Smith) and Katherine/Catherine M. Hahn (the daughter of Joseph Hahn and Margaret).
