Vajiralongkorn is the King of Thailand, having served in that capacity since October 13, 2016. He is the son of Bhumibol Adulyadej, who was the King of Thailand from June 9, 1946 until his death on October 13, 2016, and of Sirikit. He was married to Soamsawali (Kitiyakara), Sujarinee Vivacharawongse (Yuvadhida Polpraserth), and Srirasmi Suwadee.
Vajiralongkorn’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his sixth great-grandfather, Lord Rajanikul (Thongkham).
Vajiralongkorn’s paternal grandfather was Mahidol Adulyadej (the son of Chulalongkorn, also known as Rama V, and of Savang Vadhana). Chulalongkorn was the son of Mongkut, also known as Rama IV, and of Debsirindra. Savang was the daughter of Mongkut, also known as Rama IV, and of Piam Sucharitakul. Through Mongkut, Chulalongkorn and Savang Vadhana were half-siblings.
Vajiralongkorn’s paternal grandmother was Srinagarindra (the daughter of Chu Chukramol and Kham Chukramol). Chu was the son of Chum. Kham was the daughter of an unknown father and Pha.
Vajiralongkorn’s maternal grandfather was Nakkhatra Mangkala, 2nd Prince of Chanthaburi (the daughter of Kitiyakara Voralaksana, 1st Prince of Chanthaburi and Princess Apsarasaman Devakula). The 1st Prince of Chanthaburi was the son of Chulalongkorn, also known as Rama V, and of Uam Bisalayaputra. Apsarasaman was the daughter of Devan Uthaivongse, Prince Devavongse Varoprakarn and Yai Sucharitakul.
Vajiralongkorn’s maternal grandmother was Bua Snidvongs (the daughter of Sadan Snidvongs and Bang Bunyathon). Sadan was the son of Prince Sai Snidvongs and Khian Sasisamit. Bang was the daughter of uai Bunyathon and Wae Na Bangxang.
