Birth Name: Juliet Katherine van Kampen
Place of Birth: Hammersmith, London, England
Date of Birth: July 26, 1979
Ethnicity: English, some German, remote Dutch
Juliet Rylance is an English actress.
Claire Louise van Kampen, a director, composer, and playwright, and Christopher R. van Kampen, an architect. Her sister was photographer Nataasha van Kampen. Her stepfather is actor Mark Rylance. She is married to actor Christian Camargo.
Juliet’s father, Christopher, is both said to have the surname “van Kampen” and “Perret”. It is not clear which, if any, of these surnames is his birth name (the marriage record of Juliet’s parents lists him as “Christopher R. van Kampen”), and what his nationality is (the surname “Perret” is French).
Juliet is a first cousin, once removed, of cellist Christopher van Kampen. Juliet’s great-grandparents, Kurt Wilhelm van Kampen and Harriet Louisa Royle, were also Christopher’s paternal grandparents.
Surprisingly, Juliet doesn’t have any Dutch ancestry through her “van Kampen” line (it appears that the surname was originally “von Kampen”), although she does have Dutch roots through other lines, from her German great-grandfather.
Juliet’s maternal grandfather was Paul Emmanuel Kurt van Kampen (the son of Kurt Wilhelm van Kampen and Harriet Louisa Royle). Juliet’s great-grandfather Kurt was born in Gotha, Germany, the son of Johann Albert van Kampen and Laura Magdalene Momber.
Juliet’s maternal grandmother was Ruth V. Relph (likely the daughter of George F. Relph and Maud Penton).
