His paternal grandfather was William Loren Brokaw (the son of Richard Patterson Brokaw and Anna M. Hyde). Richard’s parents were Joseph Brokaw and Sarah Patterson. Anna’s parents were Elias Hyde and Sarah Bethiah Woodward.
According to Tom’s official website, he has French Huguenot ancestry through William’s surname “Brokaw” (originally Broucard). His ancestor John Broucard was born in New York in 1680 to Bourgon Broucard and Catherine Lefevre, who were both French. John Broucard’s wife, Sarah Teunis (van Middleswart), was born in New Jersey to Dutch parents.
His paternal grandmother was Elisabeth Meuer. Elisabeth’s surname is of German origin.
His maternal grandparents were James Henry Conley (the son of Thomas Conley) and Ethel Baker. Thomas’ parents were Irish.
