Sam Raimi is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor.
Sam is the son of Celia Barbara (Abrams) and Leonard Ronald Saimi. He was raised in Conservative Judaism in Birmingham, Michigan. His brother is actor Ted Raimi. Sam is married to Gillian Greene, the daughter of actor Lorne Greene.
Sam’s paternal grandparents were Samuel “Sam” Raimi (the son of Beryl Reingewertz and Golda Grosbard) and Rosa/Rose/Roiza Grossbard (the daughter of Simcha Grossbard). Samuel and Rosa were born in Poland. Simcha was the son of Schumuel Lieb Grossbard and a woman whose surname was Neimark.
Sam’s maternal grandparents were Isadore Richard Abrams and Rose Greenspon (the daughter of Aaron Greenspan and Rose/Rachel Kaldezar). Richard was born in Michigan, to parents from Russia. Rose was born in Pennsylvania, to parents from Hungary. Sam’s great-grandmother Rose was the daughter of David Kaldezar and Pessel.
