Eric’s paternal grandparents were Alvin Wynalda and Della Rykse, both of Dutch descent. Alvin was born in Arum, Friesland, Netherlands to Martin Wynalda/Wynalder (son of David Wynalda and Margaret Jacobs Hemstra) and Katherine/Catherine/Tryntje Bergsma. Della was born in Michigan to George Rykse (son of Willem Rykse) and Anna De Ruiter (daughter of Anneko DeRuiter and Jantje Oostema).

Eric’s maternal grandparents were Bill Joe Boswell and Naomi Jean Moss. Bill was the son of Evault M. Boswell and Lucille Lee Lemley (daughter of William L. Lemley and Alma Edith Gibson). Naomi Jean was the daughter of Sidney Lee Moss and Flora Lee Benham (daughter of Robert Benham and Myrtle Hogan)
