Pierre Poilievre, full name Pierre Marcel Poilievre, is a Canadian politician. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been Minister of State for Democratic Reform, from July 15, 2013 to November 4, 2015, and Minister of Employment and Social Development, from February 9, 2015 to November 4, 2015, as well as a Member of Parliament for Nepean—Carleton, and later Carleton (ON), since June 28, 2004.

Pierre was adopted, by Marlene (Ivy) and Donald Poilievre. His adoptive father is of half French-Canadian descent (known as Franco-Saskatchewanais).

Pierre’s biological maternal grandfather was of Irish descent.

Pierre is married to Senate aide Anaida Galindo, with whom he has two children. Anaida is an emigrant, from Caracas, Venezuela.

Donald Poilievre is the son of Paul Michel Poilievre and Zalla May (Stroud) Bannerman. Paul was born in Howell, Saskatchewan, the son of Joseph Constant Poilievre and Eugenie Marie Lequeux, who were born in Loire, France. Zalla was born in Saskatchewan, the daughter of Fred Stroud and Florence.

Marlene Poilievre is the daughter of Louise Schartner.
