Nas was born to Olu Dara and Ann Jones. His father Olu was a Jazz musician who converted to Islam. Olu was born Charles Jones but changed his name to Olu Dara which in Yoruba means “God is Good”.
Nas is well known as an influential hip hop artist who with his debut album Illmatic in 1994 was billed as the second coming of Rakim. Known for his lyrical ability and distinctive flow, Nas is highly rated in underground and mainstream circles.
