Alf Landon was an American politician. A Republican, he served as the 26th Governor of Kansas, from January 9, 1933 to January 11, 1937.

Alf was the Republican Party’s nominee for President of the United States in 1936.

Alf was the son of Anne (Mossman) and John Manuel Landon. His daughter is Nancy Kassebaum (born Nancy Landon), who served as a U.S. Senator from Kansas, from 1978 to 1997.

Alf’s paternal grandfather was Emmanuel/Manuel Landon (the son of Thomas Landon and Luama “Luamy” Jones). Thomas was the son of Thomas Landon and Nancy Hopkins.

Alf’s paternal grandmother was Mary D. Fetterman (the daughter of James Fetterman).

Alf’s maternal grandfather was The Rev. William Herdman Mossman (the son of Robert Gillis Mossman and Margaret “Peggy” Christy). Robert was the son of William Herdman Mossman, who was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and of Sarah Gillis. Margaret was the daughter of Andrew J. Christy and Susan Sarah Williamson.

Alf’s maternal grandmother was Sarah Ellen Dumars (the daughter of Thomas Stewart Dumars and Hannah A. Limber). Thomas was the son of Timothy R. Dumars and Sarah Stewart. Hannah was the daughter of Thomas Limber and Sarah Huston.
